Sod & Hydroseeding
Celtic Lawn & Landscape offers a variety of services to rejuvenate or renovate your lawn. One part of your landscape that truly has an effect on your overall landscape is your lawn. If your lawn is full of weeds, bare spots, brown patches, or you have a newly built home, Celtic Lawn & Landscape offers both Sod Installation & Hydroseeding .
For those who would like immediate results, without the wait for seed germination, we offer Sod Installation . Sodding is the process of applying strips of turf grass to prepared soil, to create an "instant" mature lawn. Sod Installation can be done at anytime of the year. This is an excellent way to instantly transform the appearance of your landscape. Celtic Lawn & Landscape uses only the best quality sod available. Beware of contractors that use cheap sod. Poor quality sod may have poor root systems and be full of noxious weeds.
Hydroseeding is a method of uniformly distributing seed with required fertilizers to produce a golf-course quality lawn. The grass seed is suspended in a mixture of water, cellulose and wood mulch, and fertilizer.
This biodegradable combination is sprayed through a high-pressure hose onto the soil. The consistency provides a uniform spread of seed throughout the sprayed area unlike broadcast or drop spreading, which can leave seed concentrated in some areas and bare in others. In addition, straw spread over the broadcast seed is full of weed seed. The mulch used in hydroseeding creates an environment that retains water and promotes germination. This is the perfect combination for your beautiful lawn or green-space.
By combining seed, fertilizer, fibre and a tackifier, a hydroseeding mixture is produced that can be applied with force to the landscape surface. The seed mixture sticks to the soil surface through to germination. Because the seeds are held in place by the mulch, washing, runoff, and erosion are inhibited, even on steep banks.
Hydroseeding will preserve land stability in areas where slips occur, and ensure stability of disturbed soil areas until vegetation cover is established. Sand erosion can also be handled with hydroseeding - harsh conditions are no problem.
As to which lawn looks better, aftercare and attention to your investment will ultimately determine what your results are with sodding or hydroseeding.
